SEA TURTLE NESTING

  • Nesting Season: May through end of October
  • How to Protect Sea Turtles
    • Keep beach flat - fill in any holes and flatten sand sculptures/sandcastles
    • Keep beach dark - only use red flashlights at night
    • Keep beach clean - leave nothing behind
    • Do not disturb sea turtle nests

 

BEACH ORDINANCE

  • Personal Items: Effective May 30th, 2016 the Nassau County Board of County Commissioners passed an ordinance regulating beach furniture to ensure safe nesting grounds for sea turtles. Beach furniture, tents, etc. must be removed from the beach between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. Personal items left on the beach during these hours will be removed and disposed of by the county.
  • Alcoholic Beverages: Unlawful for any person to consume or drink beer, wine or alcoholic beverage at any county-owned or controlled recreation area.
    Possession of any open container containing an alcoholic beverage is prohibited. Violations are punishable by a fine not exceeding $500 and/or ten days incarceration.
  • Dogs: Dogs must be under a leash at all times. Littering is prohibited.
  • Open Fires:  No open fires allowed from May 1 through October 31, due to Marine Turtle Nesting Season.

  • Additional chair - Omni Guests $12/day: General Public $20/day
  • Additional umbrella - Omni Guests $15/day; General Public $15/day
  • 24% service charge is automatically applied to all delivery totals.
  • Minimum order of $40 for deliveries 

Advanced reservations are highly encouraged but not required. Reserved deliveries need to be canceled before 10:00 a.m. to avoid being charged for delivery. Deliveries will be set about the high tide line in front of the specified boardwalk. Day-of-delivery rentals will have a 90-minute anticipated time between making the reservation and delivery within the day. When finished, please leave rental items on the beach and we will collect them each evening. For guests of Omni Amelia Island Resort as well as Amelia Island Club Members, beach rentals will automatically be charged to your room. For guests not staying through the Omni, a credit card will be required to reserve beach equipment rentals. Only June 30-July 9, villa deliveries will not be available.

Want to make the most of the beach? Have fun after dark by roasting marshmallows, telling stories and relaxing at the beach. Staffed beach campfires available over select dates with advance reservations.

Beach Fires are available November through April. Date restrictions are in accordance to Nassau County's Beach Ordinance: "No open fires from May 1 to October 31 due to Marine Turtle Nesting Season". Temporary fire bans may also be implemented by the county during the year due to weather conditions.
