Lunar New Year, a celebration known in China as “Spring Festival,” begins on January 29, 2025 in Washington, DC and celebrates the arrival of the Year of the Snake. From the arts to dedicated museum exhibits, the celebration includes the Chinese Lunar New Year Parade at 2 pm on February 2 complete with the traditional dragon dance which brings good luck to everyone. The parade culminates with a dazzling firecracker show. Every year, a stunning fleet of boats sails along the Potomac River from Alexandria, Va., to The Wharf.
