Join one of our naturalists and explore Amelia Island, Florida’s natural wonders! Stop by the fully stocked retail shop, complete with top-of-the-line binoculars and field guides, to fulfill all your exploring needs. Or visit with our local rescued critters, chat with our naturalists, rent a fishing pole or sign up for a tour or camp.

Hours vary seasonally. 

Pre-registration is required for all tours. There is a cancellation fee of $25 within 12 hours of the program and full price for no calls or no shows. Adventure Series*

  • Naturalist Kayak – Join a naturalist on a leisurely guided paddle through the salt marsh. $75 per person
  • Nature Segway™ Tour – Explore the resort on a Segway™ through maritime forests and marsh boardwalks to learn about plants, animals and natural forces that shape our island. $85/Adult, $70/Child
  • Paddleboard Experience – Paddle the water standing up! $75 per person

*Kayaking introductory lesson provided. Minimum age is 8 years old. Ages 8–12 are required to paddle in a tandem with an adult; 13 years or older can paddle alone. Limited tandem kayaks available.

*Segway™ introductory lesson provided. Minimum age is 8 years old, minimum weight is 65 lb.

*Paddleboarding geared towards all skill levels with introductory paddle lesson. Minimum age is 10 years old.

*Eclipse Pedalboarding introductory lesson provided. Minimum age is 13 years old. Minimum 80 lbs. and up.

All children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Ecology Series

  • Eco Bike Hike – Join our naturalists as they lead you on an exploration on the resort's bike paths. Bikes are included during tour, no training wheels or trailers. $35 per person, approximately 1 hour.
  • Birds of Amelia – Search the property by island hopper for native and migratory birds species and locate their many hideaways along the way. Learn about the plentiful songbirds and migratory birds that come to our island each year. $35 per person, approximately 1 hour.
  • Ecology of Amelia - On this Island Hopper tour, visit the 3 ecosystems of a barrier island. Learn about the flora and fauna of the surrounding local area, from the sandy dunes to tidal salt marsh. Limited to 5 people per tour. $35 per person, approximately 1 hour.

Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult for all tours.
Omni Amelia Island Resort's Aury Island contain a variety of brim, bass and catfish. A license is not required to fish these private freshwater ponds while practicing a catch and release policy.

Walker's Landing and some of the brackish water lagoons off the marsh feature tarpon, redfish, trout, flounder and many more. A Florida fishing license is required to fish these areas. Please visit the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission website to buy a license.

FISHING POLE RENTALS – NATURE CENTER

  • Conventional gear available for rent – $25 for 24-hour rental
  • 1/2 lb. bag of frozen shrimp is available for purchase.
  • Rentals are for on-property guests only.

    Children's Discovery Series

    Children's nature programs geared towards children ages 4–12.

    • Fish & Trips – Identify and learn about unique marine creatures that inhabit the salt marsh and the surrounding area.
    • Energetic Ecology – Explore the salt marsh and maritime forest for vegetation and critters.
    • Backyard Birds – Identify intriguing birds of the marsh and maritime forest while playing bird-brain games.
    • Timucuan Indian Expedition – Take a journey around an Indian burial mound.

    Family Discovery Series

    • Crab Grab – Go crabbing with the naturalists the old fashioned way. $35/child
    • Shark Tooth Discovery – Learn about different sharks while combing the beach for your own sharks’ teeth. Then craft your very own necklace to take home. $35/child
    • Marine Mammals Discovery - Learn about the various marine mammals that inhabit our coastal areas and complete a fun booklet. $35/child
    • Snake Discovery – Get up close and personal with the Nature Center’s most slithery residents. $35/child
    • Fishing 101 – Enjoy a leisurely hour of freshwater fishing on the banks of Aury Island.* $35/child
    • Sea Turtle Discovery – (tour only offered May–October) Discover the precious sea turtle and make a conservation bracelet. $35/child
    • Junior Naturalist - Experience the life of a Naturalist on Amelia Island. During this three hour class, participants will feed Nature Center animal residents and maintain aquariums and terrariums. Next, join our naturalists to help lead tours such as crab grab, fishing and our discovery series classes. Available with pre-registration 24 hours in advance. $100/child.

    • Fort Clinch State Park – Learn about the woodland flora and fauna, beach ecology, and the history of this a pre-Civil war fort with this tour led by a naturalist from the Nature Center, l
    • Lofton Creek Kayak – Take a guided kayak down this freshwater creek just off the island for a new take on the local wildlife.
    • Talbot Island State Park – Bike or hike the maritime forest trail and unspoiled beaches of Talbot Island with a naturalist.
    • Okefenokee Swamp @ Night – Take an adventure to a large wildlife preserve in Southeast Georgia.
    • Cumberland Island – Hike with a naturalist on one of the east coast's most historic barrier islands.
    • Catty Shack Ranch Wildlife Sanctuary – Meet tigers, lions, cougars, leopards and more during feeding time.
    • White Oak Plantation Wildlife Sanctuary – Enjoy a guided trolley tour through the private White Oak Conservation Center. See cheetahs, giraffes, rhinos, okapi and much more up-close and personal as you learn about the conservation efforts of White Oak.
    • Egans Creek Kayak – Enjoy a guided kayak in a brackish water creek on the northwest side of the island.
    • Family Collecting Cruise – Collect and observe sea creatures and spot dolphins, manatees, birds, and other wildlife during a two- hour eco boat tour.
    • Huguenot Park – Take an adventure to a salt water bay area where you will collect and observe sea creatures by seining and casting nets.
