City of Boston Tree Lighting
The start of the holiday season
Each year since 1971, Nova Scotia has given Boston a tree as a thank you for the city’s response following the 1917 Halifax Explosion. This tradition includes a performance by a Waycobah First Nation drum group and a Cape Breton fiddler and bagpiper. Even Santa Claus will make an appearance at this special event! Join The Skating Club of Boston at The Boston Common Frog Pond for a free figure skating ice show featuring national and international competitive figure skaters, soloists, groups and Team Excel Synchronized Skating and Theatre On Ice of Boston teams. Following the show, join Mayor Marty Walsh for The Boston Common Tree Lighting ceremony to mark the start of the holiday season.
Head to the Omni Parker House after all the merriment at the tree lighting. Make your holiday travels even merrier with 10% off our best available rates, plus a $25 American Express gift card when you stay two or more nights at the Omni Parker House!
