L Street Fine Art features the abstract works of Gerrit Greve. In this body of work the artist describes the figure with the calligraphy of emotional gestures. Through the ambiguity of abstraction, the viewer is able to have a visceral experience without preconceived associations with representational images.
A third-generation Dutch colonial, Greve was born in Indonesia and spent his early childhood in the Netherlands before growing up near Chicago, Illinois. This multicultural exposure during his formative years has shaped both Greve and his art.
Greve’s artwork is held in public and private collections in the U.S. and abroad. His paintings have been featured in publications including Time Magazine and 1001 Paintings You Must See Before You Die.

L Street Fine Art is proud to partner with Oceanside Museum of Art (OMA) in presenting San Diego Dreaming – dual exhibitions featuring the artwork of San Diego artists at both venues.
In complement to California Dreaming: An International Portrait of Southern California, which traveled to Italy in 2014 and remains on display at OMA through March 29, 2015, the two partnering San Diego Dreaming exhibitions showcase a total of seventy San Diego-based artists and their highly individualized interpretations of the “California Dream”.
Corresponding to its international forerunner, the San Diego Dreaming exhibition is composed of original contemporary works by San Diego artists that creatively interpret Southern California’s iconic culture.
The San Diego Dreaming exhibition at L Street Fine Art includes the work of 30 San Diego artists.
ANITA LEWIS, THE STRUCTURE OF WATER
Cloud Reflection
Through the Blue
Many things can be understood under the term “abstract art.” What is both different and mesmerizing about the art of Anita Lewis is that it explains depth and texture, offering its own unraveling story to the viewer. Yet, abstract art hardly describes the feel of her work.
Deriving suggestions from nature, Lewis adds elements of gold, silver and copper leaf to add hidden treasures to her work, setting a sort of vein buried deep beneath, suggesting depth of tangibility. Lewis’ technique is a mixture of the masters Pollock, Diebenkorn, Monet, Rothko, and Richter, all blended to become her own.
Dripping, rubbing and dragging paint over the canvas, she sets a mood to the work, never using brushes. Often described as taking the viewer to a reminiscent place, the viewer is taken deep into the painting. (From December 2014 issue, American Art Collector)
