Omni Scottsdale Resort & Spa at Montelucia was established in 2008 as Montelucia Resort & Spa. The Scottsdale resort’s short history hasn’t stopped it from earning numerous awards and accolades for its deluxe accommodations, world-class amenities and convenient services.

Inspired by the whitewashed villages and sun-drenched hills of Andalusia in Southern Spain, the Omni Scottsdale luxury resort was built in the lush Sonoran Desert to take advantage of more than 300 days of sunshine. X TREES

ALHAMBRA WALKWAY

This enchanting walkway and fountain connects the Montelucia villa neighborhood to the resort and leads those who follow to its soothing waters- representative of the source of life- to the courtyard of Joya Spa.

CASTILLO LUCENA

Lucena, the second largest city in the province of Cordoba in Andalusia, Spain, features beautiful architecture including Lucentine temples, mosques, churches and castles – Castillos – that have survived many centuries of occupation and fighting for ownership. 

Ideal for a wedding ceremony, this venue was inspired by one of the grand salons of the world-famous Hotel Cipriani in Venice, Italy, where celebrities from around the world famously host the most elite weddings and social events. At the resort, the venue offers an atmosphere just right for the perfect event, accommodating guests under cathedral ceilings accented with wood beams and one-of-a-kind architectural details.

TAPAS BAR & WOOD FIRED KITCHEN AT PRADO

The word "tapas" is derived from the Spanish verb tapar, "to cover." Originally tapas were slices of bread or meat which sherry drinkers in Andalusian taverns used to cover their glasses between sips. This was a practical measure meant to prevent fruit flies from hovering over the sweet sherry. Today, tapas are defined as a small portion of food to accompany a drink and will vary depending on which region of Spain you visit, with types of olives, nuts, meats and cheeses universal to all regions.

HAND CRAFTED TILE

These early 19th century floor tiles hail from the town of Guadix in the province of Granada and can be found in our Front Office in the registration area.

The hand-painted tiles once graced the floors of a small tavern in the historical old town of Guadix, where villagers shared good local wine, tapas and endless conversation.

HISTORIC OIL JARS

From the province of Jaen in Northeast Andalusia these rough-hewn terracotta "tinjas" (oil jars) were found on a Cortijo (farm) outside of the renaissance farm of Ubeda.

CASTILLO LUCENA DOORS

Found near Oporto in northern Portugal, this massive colonial door is handcrafted in solid teak and features a total of 72 framed panels, a small “zaguan” (door within a door), and all of its original decorative bronze “clavos” (nails).

Together with Macao, the Portuguese colony of Goa at the southern tip of the Indian subcontinent produced some of the world’s finest furnishings and architectural elements between the 17th to the mid-19th centuries.

MOROCCAN DECORATIVE PLATES

Mounted at the end of the ballroom corridor, each represent the Moroccan and Spanish theme of the resort.

JOYAMBROSIA SIGNATURE SCENT

During the design process in May 2008, our Alchemists discovered a special night-blooming cactus about to flower. They returned at night to see the flower unfold in the light of the full moon and they captured the essence or energy of the flower, and infused it into all of the Joya signature products.

STARRY NIGHT SKY

RESORT ENTRYWAY DOORS

Framing the entryway, these grand doors also known as "Puerta de Postigo" (small gate) were imported from Lorca, a province of Murica, Spain and made of solid teak.

THE BELL OF "EL CAMINO REAL"

This authentic bell located in Cortijo Plaza is from the El Camino Real, also known as “The King’s Highway," and was used along the route in place of road signs that were not widely available at the time. The El Camino Real was the first roadway in the state of California. Originally, there were 450 bells along the route, but because of theft and vandalism, the number has dwindled to about 80. Now this historic bell hangs in a special gathering place and will chime to introduce new brides, who are celebrating their special day at Scottsdale’s most idyllic resort. 

KASBAH POOL

A Kasbah is the center fortress in a city where the leader lives and is used as defense when when city is under attack. Kasbah pool is the fortress inside of the small Andalusian village of Montelucia.

PRADO RESTAURANT

This gathering place was designed to reflect the architectural design of Villa San Michelle created by Michelangelo in Tuscany, Italy. Outside you will see a set of 6 cast iron and copper gas lamps which were originally installed in the “Grande Casino of Sitges” located approximately 20 miles south of Barcelona, Spain. Circa 1880-1890
